Construction

The dwelling sub-structures use volumetric steel modules constructed from a fully welded hot and cold rolled steel frame. Modules are factory built and fully fitted prior to site delivery. The modules United Kingdom Winning designare then lifted by crane onto prepared steel-screw foundations. Bathroom pods, balcony and stair case modules also are constructed in the factory and plugged into the main modular structure. A variety of cladding systems can be used for individual appeal.

This project is "Designed for Recycling." As part of the building construction, all of the steel elements are tagged or physically inscribed with its relevant structural properties. This will allow the steel to be readily re-used in other projects.

Advantages of Modular Construction

  • A high quality product is achieved with modules fitted and checked before leaving the factory .
  • Construction is accelerated.
  • Cost certainty is obtained early in the design process.
  • Construction is light weight and can be moved easily and transported.
  • Less waste is generated in the construction process due to a greater degree of control under factory conditions.
