This technical bulletin briefly outlines the legislation that has been adopted by states and Territories across Australia in an effort to improve the sustainability of the residential housing stock.

While the Building Code of Australia (BCA) provides the basis for most of the energy and water efficiency requirements, States and Territories are also able to mandate additional performance criteria, as well as determine how and when to adopt the BCA standards.
