Following the global announcement of winners for Living Steel's 2nd International Architecture Competition for Sustainable Housing on 17th September, the winning architects and the demonstration projects were unveiled in events in the local regions where demonstration construction will take place. Architects, industry representatives and city officials in China, Brazil and the United Kingdom were introduced to the architects and the designs that soon will be constructed in those countries.

In China, Living Steel, in concert with member BaoSteel, showcased Knafo Klimor Architects' winning Agro-housing  at the China International Architectural Expo 2007, Beijing on 24th September. Winning and short-list finalists' concepts were the subject of an exhibit visited by more than 230 companies representing China's media, building and material suppliers, architects and industry associations. An award ceremony honoured David Knafo and Tagit Klimor, to an audience of over 300 media, architects and others, with an official announcement of Knafo Klimor Architects' win and the demonstration building project details. China architect and Living Steel juror Cui Kai delivered comments on the Knafo Klimor concept on behalf of the jury.

Winning Architects Announced at Regional Events

"Knafo Klimor's concept for the demonstration building in Wuhan was well received by the community represented at the Beijing Expo," said Zigang Li, Chief Researcher at Baosteel-Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. and member of Living Steel. "This construction will serve as an example of design and construction of an advanced steel structure residence, as well as to promote the development of sustainable steel buildings in China."
