Attendees representing the fields of architecture and construction in Brazil were pleased that Brazilian architecture firms accounted for both the winner and a finalist in the 2nd International Architecture Competition, regarding it as source of national pride, especially considering the high standards shown by the exhibited projects.
The general feeling in Brazil's construction industry is that the steel use is about to become more widespread due to the increasing importance of sustainability and the bullish housing market. The Recife demonstration project is viewed as a calling card for the use of steel in sustainable housing construction, particularly considering its advantage over traditional structures when faced with poor soil conditions.
Silvia Scalzo, ArcelorMittal, viewed the event as, "very positive, with the participation of various elements from the construction and architect communities", adding, "We are now looking forward to the next step for the demonstration project".
