Ground Breaking Ceremony

An official groundbreaking ceremony is currently scheduled for January 2008. Construction of a Ground + 6-storey building will begin shortly thereafter.

Member company Tata BlueScope Steel and Living Steel are conducting training sessions on steel construction as part of the quest to build a steel supply chain in India. Training sessions have taken place in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Living Steel also participated at the AEC World Expo in Mumbai.

Piercy Conner Visits Construction Site

Richard Conner, Piercy Conner Architects, arrived in Kolkata in August to visit the construction site and to visit Tata BlueScope Steel in Pune. Project Team India sees their continued onsite involvement as highly beneficial to the successful project realisation.

In July, Living Steel took possession from the Housing Infrastructure Development Company (HIDCO) of a land parcel at New Town, Kolkata for building the demonstration building. Now that this key element has taken place, activities will move ahead, such as soil testing, site survey and construction of the site office and boundary walls.
