3rd Competition Finalists. Meet the architects that will compete for Extreme Housing in Cherepovets, Russia
Architecture Paradigm was established 12 years ago. A large majority of the firm’s work is housing, including both single- and multi-family dwellings. The firm believes that an investigative and open-ended practice is the way to create sensitive and responsive environments. Green building rating systems, such as L.E.E.D. and ECO Homes, are used by the firm as parameters to understand how an eco-friendly building can be crafted. However, Architecture Paradigm also pay close attention to the larger environment and our relationship with it when creating a design. The firm’s aim is to develop an idea that is real, buildable, habitable and, most importantly, enjoyable.
Architecture Paradigm use materials like bamboo, steel and plantation timber. The firm has particularly used bamboo in some buildings to encourage wider use of this green and renewable resource. Steel is another material that has fascinated the team for its lightness, flexibility and speed of construction.
