The length of time spent indoors in cold climates make its livable space a critical issue. BVN created five different building types, each having its own features, yet sharing inherent flexibility, and features like double height living spaces between a two-story service area and open floor plans. The double height space adds considerably to the sense of space and enhances family interaction. The house features sliding shutters as well as double glazing to provide a barrier to the cold and innovative uses of steel to minimise material usage and save energy. community where everyone feels like they own it. Hot water circulation system heats the lower level, coupled with radiators on the second level. Auxiliary cooling sydtems are not needed due to the high degree of natural ventilation achieved through the window configurations. BVN’s scheme provides small high quality spaces that are easy for occupants to personalise and maintain
