RVTR’s Latitude is a system of highly engineered modular units that perform quadruple-duty as an energy efficient building envelope, integrated structural system, space defining elements and infrastructural chassis for building services such as power, data, water, waste and HVAC. The system allows for widely flexible and adaptable schemes, and those presented by RTVR for the competition were just five of many possibilities. The homes are raised above the ground to eliminate any disruption of the land around the reservoir that is the community site in Cherepovets. The scheme makes extensive use of passive design strategies to reduce overall energy costs while maximizing natural light in the buildings.
