Take a look at all 18 designs that were shortlisted for Living Steel’s International Competition for Sustainable Housing.

Sander Architects' structure offers an abundance of sun and natural light, green space and courtyards, and childcare and social recreation.
The design provides flexibility in arrangements of units. Each unit is biaxially symmetrical around its central plumbing core and each is constructed or prefabricated, light-gauge steel framing components, making it fully stackable and arrange-able.
The design also features an innovative approach to renewable energy generation through Piezo technology. The top four stories of the building are shaded by a pair of screens made up of steel fins. As well as providing shading, the screens are covered with piezoelectric films that ‘harvest' wind movements to produce virtually continuous electricity.
