Avery Associates Architects

The essence of Avery Associates' design is a small and very simple modular housing unit consisting of four single-aspect flats that can be juxtaposed side-by-side or back-to-back, or backed on to other structures such that an infinite variety of social arrangements and urban forms can be created.

The modular units all have high ceilings, high thermal mass, and through ventilation and the open well at the rear is both the circulation zone and a capacious service shaft wherein the services can be maintained or modified without disruption to the flats.
