Glenn Murcutt Living Steel Jury

(Chairman of the jury panel) was the 2002 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Located in Sydney, Murcutt was the first Australian recipient of this prestigious architectural award. Murcutt's work has been lauded as architecture of place with designs that respond to the surrounding landscape and climate. He uses a variety of materials in his designs and only selects them after careful consideration of the amount of energy used to produce each of The board of jurors comprises of several of the most respected architects in the worldthe materials.

 Andrew Ogorzalek is one of the founding partners of PCKO Architects of the United Kingdom, a firm incepted after winning the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) competition for a low energy, innovative residential scheme at Crystal Palace in the UK. In 1997 he was awarded the Gold Medal in Architecture for Wales. He has a keen interest in urban design, urban regeneration and sustainable community structures.

Jaime Lerner

Jaime Lerner is a former president of the Living Steel JuryInternational Union of Architects and is currently responsible for the creation of the Institute of Urban Planning and Research of Curitiba in Brazil (IPPUC). He participated in a master plan design for Curitiba, resulting in its physical, economic and cultural transformation. Three-time elected mayor of the city; he consolidated its urban transformation and implemented the Integrated Mass Transportation System, acknowledged worldwide for its efficiency, quality and low cost. He is also a consultant to the United Nations for urban issues.

James berry

James Berry, Board Director of Skanska Integrated Projects, division of Skanska UK, is responsible for design across a portfolio of projects in the health, education, defence, and housing sectors. Prior to this, Berry spent 12 years developing major infrastructure projects including the design of the stations and air rights developments for London's Crossrail project, as well as part of the senior management team responsible for the Terminal 5 development at London Heathrow airport. T5 is currently the largest and most complex development in Europe, and when complete, will provide facilities for an additional 35 million passengers per annum.

Nicholas de Monchaux Nicholas de Monchaux is our jury alternate, and in our 2nd competition, he capably filled Charles Correa's position, who was unable to attend. De Monchaux, educated at Yale and Princeton Universities, has worked in London with Sir Michael and Lady Hopkins; and in New York where he has completed a range of projects with the New York Practice of Diller & Scofidio. Projects included the electronic installation Refresh for the Dia Center for the Arts and an installation on civic scale for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In 2006 he takes up a position as Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley to teach courses in both Architecture and Urban Design.

Cui Kai

Cui Kai is a member of the China Architecture Design & Research Group (CAG), an architecture design and scientific research enterprise. Among his many accomplishments are the design of the Capital Museum and the Kangbao Garden, both in Beijing, and the Residential Community of Tianyi Garden in Ningbo. Kai has won numerous awards, including Best Architectural Design for the Hyatt Regency Xian and Fengzeyuan Beijing hotels and the National "Architect Cup" Best Design prize for Young and Middle-Aged Designers. Most celebrated is his contribution to the Commune by the Great Wall, the "See and Seen" villa, which won him a special prize at La Biennale di Venezia in 2002.

Roberto Loeb

Roberto Loeb has established himself as one of Brazil's premier contemporary architects with a long career of world-class design projects, such as the Jewish Cultural Center in São Paulo, the Natura Cosmetics Factory in Cajamar and the MAHLE Metal Leve New Technology Center in Jundiaí, all in Brazil. Loeb's design of the Unibanco Data Processing Center won him the Brazilian Association of Steel Construction award and in 2003 he received the "Best Foreign Architect" prize at an international creativity competition in the Ukraine (serving on its jury board the following year) and, for his social projects, the "Architect for the Common Good" award by the Mayor of São Paulo. In 2004, Loeb was given responsibility for the Brazilian Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia - 9. Mostra Internazionale di Architettura and was invited to present his design of the Natura Cosmetics Factory at the inaugural Holcim Forum for Sustainable Construction in Switzerland. Loeb also is the author of projects for several other cultural centers, including the Itaú Cultural in São Paulo and the Santander Cultural in Porto Alegre.
